Despised Trump Regime Will Collapse in 30 Days

“Public support for this administration will fall through the floorboard,” political analyst James Carville predicts. “It’s already happening. Just over a month in, the president’s approval has already sunk underwater in two new polls.

“At this rate, the Trump honeymoon will be over, best case, by Memorial Day but more likely in the next 30 days,” he said.

John Della Volpe, the Director of Polling at Harvard, agrees. “One thing I know for certain: the backlash will be swiftest and harshest among those who know him least but expect the most—young voters. YouGov tracking shows Trump falling from 53% to 39% among young voters—a 14-point drop. Similarly, SocialSphere’s latest Gen Z tracker confirms this trend, showing a seven-point decline (50% to 43%) in Trump’s favorability among 18-29-year-olds over just the past month.”

Voters are now living under his policies, and their expectations are quickly colliding with reality. If they start to view him as just another politician who over-promised and under-delivered, the break will be decisive.

Economic Confidence in Trump Crashes

Trump’s approval ratings on economic, jobs, and cost-of-living-related issues have plummeted among young voters since his inauguration:

  • Economy: Approval down from 50% to 39%
  • Inflation: Approval collapsed from 45% to 32%
  • Jobs: Approval fell from 54% to 43%

“The economic messaging that propelled Trump back into office is quickly losing its potency as reality sets in. Young voters, many of whom face mounting student debt, housing costs, and stagnant wages, were drawn to his promises of financial relief and prosperity. Now, barely a month into his term, many are already questioning whether those promises will materialize,” Della Volpe said.

Financially Struggling Voters Are Already Done Waiting

Among voters who identify as struggling financially, Trump’s issue approval ratings on key economic concerns have cratered:

  • Inflation Approval: Down from 45% in January to just 26% in February
  • Economy Approval: A staggering 17-point drop, from 53% to 36%

Those who identify as “struggling financially” are showing signs of disillusionment. The decline underscores a growing skepticism toward his economic agenda.

The Cracks in Trump’s Coalition Are Growing

The SocialSphere chart reveals significant shifts in Trump’s support:

  • Female voters: From 43% to 33%, a 10-point decline
  • Youngest voters (18-21): From 45% to 39%, a 6-point decline
  • Hispanic/Latino voters: From 43% to 34%, a 9-point drop
  • Urban areas: From 48% to 38%, a 10-point drop
  • Rural voters: From 67% to 50%, a 17-point decline
  • Independents: From 52% to 39%, a 13-point decline
  • White women: From 52% to 42%, a 10-point drop
  • Not in college with no degree: From 54% to 45%, a 9-point drop
John Della Volpe and James Carville

“The data suggests that Trump’s honeymoon with young voters is already over, and the next round of polling could show even steeper declines,” Della Volpe said.

Carville echoed him, saying, “Let the Republicans push for their tax cuts, their Medicaid cuts, their food stamp cuts. Give them all the rope they need. Then let dysfunction paralyze their House caucus and rupture their tiny majority.”

“Let them reveal themselves as incapable of governing,” Carville said.

  1. It’s interesting that Democrats were all polls shmolls when the polls were consistently saying don’t run Joe Biden again.

    How things change.

Carville should be doing something else like maybe improving his gumbo recipe. Or whatever elderly Cajuns do. But Clinton era establishment Democrats aren’t built for the kind of problems we’ve got now.

    • Carville is the epitome of clueless Democratic consultants. Believe hee hasn’t had a winning moment since “It’s the economy, stupid”. I’m amazed that anyone understands what the hell he’s saying when he opens his mouth.

As a Repug consultant once told Markos Moulitas: “When of our consultants oversees a losing campaign we take them out back and shoot them. You guys keep hiring the same ones over and over.

Governor Walz was making great headway with defining Repugs as “weird”, apparently he followed consultant advice to stop doing that. He was probably also advised to make nice with J Divan Vance at their debate, if he had followed Biden’s example of mocking Paul Ryan in their debate 2024 may have had a better outcome.

  2. All well and good, but what comes next? Hopefully we Democrats win coalesce around a simple to understand better way comprised of a few key goals that the Republicans would never undertake, but energize support beyond our traditional base.
