Despite the Court Setbacks, Democrats Need to Persevere and Fight

The decisions from the United States Supreme Court to essentially gut the Voting Rights Act and the Virginia Supreme Court to nullify a Democratic-held election where voters approved the redrawing of their congressional districts are setbacks and have allowed Republican states in the South to engineer a racist power grab by wiping out districts held by Black legislators.

However, while these moves by Republicans are grotesque, they are not fatal to Democratic political prospects heading into the 2026 and 2028 elections.

Democrats are still exceeding expectations and results in special elections, to the point where redistricting efforts in Texas and Florida could backfire in some of the now less safe newly drawn ‘Republican’ districts.

The word dummymander may become very familiar after the November elections if Democrats, with an enthusiastic base and independents fleeing from MAGA, continue to outperform the electoral margins.

In Virginia, voters and proponents of congressional district redrawing were turned back on a technicality. That does not mean they could not try again and get a different result after addressing the technical concerns expressed by the four justices who nullified the election results before 2028.

There is also a chance that redistricting efforts in Florida and Alabama will be halted because these moves go against either the state constitution (Florida) or previous legal arrangements (Alabama).

Furthermore, what goes around comes around.

Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries has called for New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Washington, and Oregon to do its version of political gerrymandering.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherill has expressed the same willingness in New Jersey.

So has Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, although Illinois Democrats want to be careful about how they accomplish it.

Donors are contributing to a Colorado Democratic effort to redraw its maps.

Democrats need to persevere and fight.

Trump and Republicans are failing on affordability and the war against Iran.

They are the most corrupt regime in modern United States History, and they have a conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court, despite the LIES Chief Justice John Roberts asserts, acting as a compromised political actors to help them in their efforts to establish a Neo Fascist-White Nationalist-Apartheid-Gilded Age-Handmaid’s Tale-Autocratic-Oligarchy.

Fighting against Fascism and Autocracy and the Trump regime’s war on Democracy, women, and non-whites.

Fighting against unnecessary and stupid/unplanned wars in Iran and elsewhere, including science and history.

Fighting against corruption in the Trump-MAGA Regime and the Courts and advancing reforms like campaign finance, judicial term limits and expansion, and stop funding cult of personality vanity projects like the White House Ballroom.

From Nick Anderson.

Fighting for affordability and expanding the Middle Class and lifting people up by giving them a ladder to success.

These are four issues Democrats are winning on.

They need to run with it, continue the winning streak they have had at the polls since 2025, and win in 2026, 2027, and 2028, even in some of these new Republican gerrymandered districts that are far from safe for them.
