McCain is now officially the unofficial persona non grata to Focus on the Family. That’s going to scare off a lot of far right Evangelical support for Johnny. Some see this as a quirky choice for Dobson, given this his only other choices seem to be Guiliani the abortionist, and Romney the wet noddle Mormon freak-show.

But some don’t see that the this is a prelude to FotF and the rest of the Evangelical Right going all in on their 2008 Presidential hand. They don’t want someone who is ‘good enough’ this time around. They don’t even want someone like Bush who makes all the right noises but fails to prioritize the Kingdom of God. They want a politician who is ‘one of us’ in every way. They want Sam Brownback.

No, he’s not on the radar for most people yet, but he IS the Evangelical Right establishment, and he IS coming to a Presidential race near you. He’s formed an exploratory committee, and he’s got the members of his Values Action Team and The Fellowship lined up to storm the secular bastions of Washington. If you haven’t heard of him, or don’t know anything about him, I suggest you get to know the enemy now.

    Thanks for the “Get to know the enemy” link. I don’t think this guy is getting any nomination anytime soon, but he is a force worth knowing about.

    Guys like these just baffle my mind. How can they really think what they think?

  4. I know alot of people in Kansas who have alot of money to burn and can sway candidates and elections. One is the CEO of Kroger Food Stores David B. Dillon of Dillon Stores. His fathers name was Ace Dillon and his Grandmother’s name is Hutcheson, of the Hutcheson Bank Of Kansas and of the Town of Hutcheson, Kansas. All 500,000 plus Kroger employees checks are routed through this Bank.
    My point is the midwest broke many Presidential Candidates but some interesting ones did become President!

  7. I’m predicting the ER will go with Romney even though he is a Mormon. He’s better looking than Brownback and is a glib fast talker. We’ll see. I would have to commit suicide if either of these two became president.
