This week, we will be drinking a bit more liberally than usual at Drinking Liberally. We are hosting a free beer tasting, courtesty of our venue The Shanty. Come on down to The Shanty on 4th Ave. and 9th street by the underpass starting at 6pm to try a number of tasty varieties of beer for free. It’s a perfect way to drown those sorrows if your candidate lost in the primary (or if you are a candidate who lost in the primary) and a great way to celebrate your well-deserved victory if you or your candidate got the nod from Arizona’s Democrats.
We haven’t scheduled any special guests this week, because, heck, we’ve got free beer! I mean, jeez, what more do you people want?
Last week, we had both Democratic candidates for Superintendant of Public Instruction, Jason Williams, who prevailed in Tuesday’s vote, and Slade Mead. We had some great discussions with both candidates and an informal debate between the candidates. They are both terrific guys, and we look forward to them both making a huge positive impact on Arizona’s public school system, not the least of which will be working together to defeat Tom Horne.
We are launching a new book club called Reading Liberally, of course, the inaugural meeting of which will be on Wednesday, October 4th at 7:30pm at Bookmans on Speedway and Wilmot. The first book we will discuss will be John W. Dean’s "Conservatives Without Conscience."
If you wish to suggest a future book title for Reading Liberally, or
