Drinking Liberally 9/21

Bottle_20
This week, Drinking Liberally will be held at the usual time and place: The Shanty on 4th Ave starting at 6pm. There are no special events or guests scheduled this week, just good conversation, good times, and good beer with like-minded liberals.

Last week, we had a Drinking Liberally beer tasting. We tasted about 10 great beers of various styles. Thanks to Bill and Tom and all crew at the Shanty for putting on this FREE event (you read that right, FREE BEER, and you missed it). After that, conversation was a little boozy, but just as fun as ever.

Next week, we have a special guest, Dave Ewoldt, who is a consultant on economic and ecological sustainability. He will be leading a discussion about civic sustainability. He is a part of Sustainable Tucson, a fledgling organization which is attempting to establish a framework for sustainable developement in Tucson much along the lines of Sustainable Seattle. UPDATE: Mark Manoil, Democrat for AZ Corporation Commission will also be joining us to discuss energy sustainability.

The following week, we have special guest Tom Volgy, former Mayor of Tucson, candidate for Congress, and University of Arizona professor of international affairs.

Now is the time to get your copy of John W. Dean’s book "Conservatives without Conscience" for our Oct 4th meeting of Reading Liberally at the Speedway and Wilmot location of Bookman’s Used Books. Bring your extra liberal books for a bookswap and to sell or trade to Bookman’s.

Cheers.
