This week our Special Guest is Congressonal Candidate for CD 8 Jeff Latas. Jeff will be joining us about 8pm due to other commitments.

Our new book club, Reading Liberally will be meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 7:30 pm at the Bookman’s on Speedway and Wilmot. The book we will discuss is John W. Dean’s "Conservatives Without Conscience."

A parting thought, not apropos to anything in particular, except recent news here in Arizona, on theocracy. If you want to see the future of a theocratic America, you need look no further than Colorado City, Arizona. As one commentator puts it, theocracy is always accompanied by massive corruption and human rights abuses. The FLDS is the closest thing to the Taliban in America; the next closest, and far more powerful, is the fundamentalist and charasmatic Christian evangeical movements. Certainly, these theocrats, who hold disturbing levels of influence in our Federal government are proving that corruption and human rights abuses are not limited to secretive and insulated sects.

Even as Warren Jeffs, the leader of the Fundmentalist LDS, has been apprehended and will soon be brought to trial in Arizona and Utah, an extraordinary new documentary film about the FLDS, "Banking on Heaven" has been realeased. Here’s the trailer:
