East Valley Democratic State Legislators Ask the Chandler City Government to Adopt an Anti Discrimination Ordinance that Protects the LGBTQ Community

With Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe having already adopted and instituted Anti Discrimination Ordinances to Protect the LGBTQ Community, the Democratic State Legislators from Legislative Districts 17 and 18 (Senator Sean Bowie and Representatives Mitzi Epstein, Jennifer Jermaine, and Jennifer Pawlik) have crafted and sent a letter to the Chandler City Government calling on them to do the same as the other neighboring cities.

In their letter to the Chandler City Government (please click on the link below,) the Democratic state legislators pointed out that:

  • Chandler is now the largest city in Arizona without this Anti Discrimination Ordinance.
  • Chandler is the largest city employer without these protections.
  • Some of Chandler’s largest employers like Intel and Paypal want the City Government to adopt this Anti Discrimination Ordinance that protects the LGBTQ Community.
  • The LGBTQ Community needs to know they will be safe and protected within Chandler boundaries.

Hopefully, Chandler will not take too long to follow the example of Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, and Scottsdale and adopt the ordinance that tells members of the LGBTQ Community you are welcome here.
