AZ Sec. of State has issued the early returns from 6 counties (Cochise, Maricopa, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, Yuma) for the contested CD 7 race from the Democratic, Republican, Green primaries. Candidates in the Libertarian & No Labels parties ran unopposed. This CD 7 seat is vacant due to the death of 77 year old Congressman Raul Grijalva on March 13, 2025.

These party nominees (Grijalva and Butierrez Sr.) will now face off in the General Special Election on Sept. 23, 2025, against Green, Libertarian, No Labels candidates. Jim Nintzel over at Tucson Sentinel got the scoop on the CD7 Green Party candidates:
“Green Party candidate Eduardo Quintero, who also needed just one vote, received 41 write-in votes, defeating Gary Swing, who received two votes.”
The SOS office refused to disclose the tally to me.
