Engel Leads in CD6 by Almost 20 Points Among Voters Who Recognize Her Name

Today the Kirsten Engel for Congress campaign released some polling to the media. Not too surprising on the surface: she leads within a 4% MOE – at 49% to 47%. That’s not news, that’s just expected. They are tied at the beginning of the general election. Big whoop.

The real news in the poll is this note: “Among voters who recognize Engel, she leads her opponent 57 to 39 percent.”!!!

Engel leads by 18% among those who actually know who she is! I don’t have the cross tabs or anything, but I find that VERY interesting indeed.

Almost half of voters polled did not recognize the names of either candidate, but Ciscomani does have an edge here (61% recognize Ciscomani (likely just because his signs are littered everywhere), but only 51% recognize Engel). This indicates that the race is really just getting started and the candidates are still introducing themselves to the many voters – likely those who are not strongly loyal partisans – who will decide this race in the end.

We have a really great opportunity here in Southern AZ to keep this seat, despite Ducey’s successful rigging and hijacking of the IRC process to tilt this district to the GOP. But that requires your support: chip in to the Engel campaign today, and make it a recurring contribution: I did.

As of July filings, Ciscomani is already sitting on a bigger campaign cash-on-hand treasury than Engel, but that doesn’t begin to account for the flood of independent money that is going to flow to the GOP candidate leading up to November! McCarthy and the GOP Congressional Leadership fund have already plowed in WAY over $4M to support Ciscomani, and that tap – and those that follow their lead – are only going to open wider.
