After having been lead around by the nose by "The Donald" Trump for a month making complete fools of themselves, the corporate mainstream media is back at it again having learned nothing, this time being lead around by the nose by Sarah Palin on her Palinpalooza Tour to nowhere.
Palin is proving the one thing that she and I can agree upon, the corporate media is the "lamestream media." These so-called political reporters may as well all be paparazzi voyeurs working for TMZ. If I had my way, like Donald Trump, I would tell them all "You're Fired!"
Since everyone else has a theory on what this supreme narcissist is up to, let me add a theory to the mix. Palin purposefully timed her surprise Palinpalooza Tour in the middle of GOP candidate announcements to stomp on their announcements and suck up all the media oxygen. She is establishing herself as the alpha dog of the pack, while diminishing the GOP field of candidates as small and insignificant. Remember the 1988 Democratic Presidential Primary when the "lamestream media" derisively labeled the Democratic contenders as the seven dwarfs? "You betcha" Sarah Palin does.
Palin is not running for president but rather she wants to be the kingmaker at the GOP convention. She wants everyone to kiss her ring for her endorsement, and to acknowledge her alpha dog status — remember, she is a supreme narcissist. This is the only way Palin can remain relevant and keep the "lamestream media" hanging on her every inane tweet until the end of August in 2012.
If Palin were to run as a candidate and lose a primary contest, her media-generated celebrity status would be irreparably harmed, and her ability to profit from her media-generated celebrity status would be damaged. There is a symbiotic relationship between Palin and the "lamestream media" that she only half-mockingly derides. Celebrity is her livelihood, and it is fleeting.
I suspect this symbiotic relationship between Palin and the "lamestream media" exists because she is, after all, one of them. This former Miss Alaska contestant was one of the blow-dried pretty boys and girls who populate television news, having worked as a sports reporter for KTUU-TV in Alaska.
There is some good analysis about the sorry state of our "lamestream media" in this L'Affaire de Palinpalooza Tour. The Week has a summary of commentary here Sarah Palin vs. the media, as does Justin Elliot at Salon here. Media swarms aimless Palin bus tour.
In a country that values celebrity status over merit and the content of one's character, I suppose it is no surprise that it has finally, sadly, come to this.

I think she’s going to run for Kyl’s senate seat, and I’m afraid , folks, that Arizonans will elect her.
I myself will say “Eh” when and if I notice Sarah Palin coverage on the TV. I’ll start paying attention the day the news starts asking interesting questions. Perhaps Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert will have her on soon. I can only hope.
