Arizona Commission of African-American Affairs and African-American Caucus – Tucson to Host CD-7 Town Hall on July 26, 2025
TUCSON, AZ — With a pivotal special election on the horizon, the Arizona Commission of African-American Affairs (ACAAA) and the African-American Caucus – Tucson will host a Congressional District 7 Town Hall on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the historic Dunbar Pavilion, 325 W. 2nd Street in Tucson.
Under the theme “Your Voice. Your Issues. Your Power.” the event will include a discussion on how the recent federal budget passage will impact critical areas such as Healthcare, Housing, and Social Security. Additionally, constituents will connect with the candidates seeking to represent Arizona’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. General elections candidates have been invited to attend, with voters having the opportunity to hear directly from candidates during a moderated forum and engage in meaningful dialogue about critical issues.
“This is not just another election — it’s a special election that carries weight far beyond Arizona. The eyes of the nation will be watching as voters in Congressional District 7 decide who will represent them in Washington. It’s essential that constituents have opportunities like this town hall to hear directly from the candidates and make informed decisions,” said Jerry J. McPherson, Executive Director of ACAAA.
In addition to the candidate forum, community resource tables and public information will be available on-site. Attendees can also enjoy refreshments while connecting with neighbors, advocates, and local leaders.
The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged at: https://cd7townhall.eventbrite.com

Carolyn Classen: Two contenders for the vacant CD 7 seat are Adelita Grijalva (D), daughter of the late Congressman Raul Grijalva, and Francis Butierrez Sr. (R) who challenged Raul in Nov. 2024, and is again the Republican nominee for this seat. Raul died in office on March 13, 2025. There are other candidates seeking this position from the Green, Libertarian & No Labels parties.
