Because of a resignation, paid members of the Democrats of Greater Tucson must elect a new Secretary.

Jake Martin, our current Sergeant at Arms, has agreed to run for the position. He is the Chief Deputy Treasurer of Pima County. See his bio here.

The election will take place at the regular Zoom meeting on Monday, June 23rd, at Noon.

  • If you would like to run for Secretary, nominations must be submitted by email to First Vice-President Michael Bryan at mbryan@gmail.com by June 16th at 5:00 p.m. No nominations may be made during the Zoom meeting.

Duties of the Secretary: Shall keep a record of actions taken at Regular, Special and Executive Board meetings; shall keep an attendance record of the Executive Board Meetings; shall preside at meetings in the absence of the President and Vice-Presidents. The Secretary shall attend to all correspondence for the Democrats of Greater Tucson, shall supervise the compilation of the Newsletter or all special mailings to the membership or other parties, and shall arrange for the preparation of the ballot for the biennial election, and compile and keep an ongoing record of decisions made by the Executive Board and membership as a voting body.

This election will be a live Zoom meeting, and votes will be counted using Electionrunner.com. Each candidate will have 2 minutes to speak before the vote is taken.

Carolyn’s note: Current DGT Secretary George Beverly must have resigned. Jake ran for Pima County Supervisor District 1 in the Dem primary of July, 2024. He just graduated in May from UA with a B.S. bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science.
