Our friends at Poder in Action have introduced a Citizen’s Petition that Phoenix City Council will be voting on this Wednesday, June 18th. Please come out and support the Resolution for Thriving Communities!
“Phoenix cops arrest Latinx people 12x more than white folks for window tinting, Black residents 7x more for weed possession, and unhoused people for sleeping at bus stops. ICE agents now stalk families in unmarked cars after court hearings – this is how Phoenix Police Department collaboration tears our families apart.
This resolution bans racist pretextual stops, ends arrest quotas, and requires citations instead of arrests. Every traffic stop becomes an ICE collaboration opportunity. Council can cut off these deportation pathways by choosing our communities over police violence.””
