Justice of the Peace Kendrick Wilson at DGT
April 29 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm MST
by Carolyn Classen, blogger
“Kendrick Wilson is the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 9, one of the County’s most diverse precincts. Precinct 9 includes the University of Arizona, the City of South Tucson, and parts of the Tohono O’odham Nation. He is a native Tucsonan and a University of Arizona graduate. He is honored to serve the citizens of Precinct 9 and believes that everyone who comes to court deserves to be treated with fairness, respect, and dignity.
Judge Wilson was appointed to the bench in 2019. He accepted the appointment when the Honorable Maria Felix– a longtime mentor and friend– retired. He was re-elected in 2020.

Judge Wilson has devoted his entire legal career to keeping the citizens of Pima County safe and ensuring that the rights of Victims and Defendants are strictly protected. Before becoming a Justice of the Peace, Judge Wilson worked for 9 years as a prosecutor and specialized in handling domestic violence and animal abuse cases. He worked for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe from 2015 until 2019 and worked from 2010 until 2015 in the Pima County Attorney’s Office.
Judge Wilson currently presides over Animal Welfare Court, which is the first of its kind in the nation, and Domestic Violence Court. These two important specialty courts focus on offender accountability and preventing recidivism.”
Carolyn’s note: I’ve known Kendrick since high school, before college, before law school, before being a prosecutor, and enjoyed being a Hearing Officer in Small Claim Court at the PCCJC when he was elected JP in Precinct 9. For the first time he faces a Dem challenger in the primary, Renee Ann Garza. The AZ primary is on July 30, 2024.
