“Larry Waggoner is the Chair of Legislative District 17. Before being elected Chair of LD17, he was the Second Vice-Chair of LD10 and the lead of the LD10 Operations Team. Larry was also responsible for engagement with C3 and C4 organizations working for voter outreach within LD10. Come meet Larry who will speak about the candidates and volunteer efforts that will elect Democrats John McLane and Kevin Volk to the state legislature and help establish a new Democratic majority in the state legislature this year, as well as delivering the district for Harris.

In March 2022, Larry was elected the chair of LD17, a district designed to be a safe Republican district for the next decade. In the 2022 election, the district fielded three candidates and closed an almost 10-point gap to less than 2 points. In September, LD17 announced it would follow a single-shot strategy of running only one house candidate in the 2024 Election.
Larry grew up in Tucson but left to serve in the United States Marine Corps for almost 30 years. During his career, he served as the Assistant Naval Attache in Rome, Italy, commanded a Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron, and was responsible for the two largest military exercises in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO’s) southern region. After retirement from the Marine Corps, he worked for the NATO Headquarters in Naples, Italy, for seven years before returning to Tucson in 2011. Larry earned a Master of Science in Defense Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arizona.”
