John is a third generation Arizonan and attended the University of Arizona before continuing to graduate school in California. When John and his wife started a family, they returned to Tucson to raise their children because of the good schools and an outstanding quality of life.

Shortly after returning to Tucson, John opened an office with Arete Associates to develop cutting-edge technologies for national security. The business thrived because of the quality of the workforce grounded by the University of Arizona. John is a proven business leader who has brought nearly $1B of economic activity to southern Arizona over Arete’s thirty-year history.

John learned the value of bipartisanship from his uncle Bob Wilcox, who served in the state Senate with Sandra Day O’Connor. John has served on the Board of four Arizona based non-profits and knows the value of public service and the importance of giving back.”

Carolyn’s note: LD 17 State Senator is Republican Justice Wadsack, elected in Nov. 2022. She faces a primary challenge on July 30, 2024 from former LD 17 Senator Republican Vince Leach. The winner will then run against Democrat John McLean in the November General Election 2024.
