Naomi Miguel previously served as Staff Director for the Subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples of the United States at the House Committee on Natural Resources, which passed historic legislation for tribal nations and was essential to passing bills during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the Biden Administration, she served as the Executive Director of the White House Initiative for Native Americans and Tribal Colleges and Universities, where she led tribal education policy efforts. She focused on education sovereignty, Indigenous languages, and teacher retention.
Since then, she started her own consulting business and taken time off to spend more time with family. Naomi sees the disparities living in a rural tribal area and thinks our State can do more, which is why she’s running for the State Legislature.”
Naomi is in 4 way Dem primary for 2 House seats in LD 23. Other House candidates Emilia Cortez and Juan Guerrero are political newcomers as well. Only candidate Mariana Sandoval is an incumbent. Naomi’s campaign website: https://www.miguelforarizona.com/
