Public Power for Tucson is a recently formed coalition supporting a public energy utility for Southern Arizona. As they put it on their website, “Despite the local sounding name, Tucson Electric Power is owned by a for-profit Canadian corporation, Fortis, that exists to make money for shareholders, not serve the people of Tucson. TEP continues to raise rates, build fossil fuel power plants and support energy guzzling data centers that will send bills even higher. Put the power in the people’s hands! Tucson already owns and runs a water utility. It can manage an electric utility too.” Join us for a timely and informative conversation on the future of energy and the feasibility of public utility ownership.”
