Show Up for Karla and her husband Wilder
October 6 @ 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm MST
by Carolyn Classen, blogger
“On October 6, I’m asking my community to show up and stand with me and my husband, Wilder, as we face immigration court proceedings that began after I was detained by ICE.
Earlier this year, ICE came to our home.
At the time, I had valid, unexpired DACA and an unexpired employment authorization document.
ICE agents forced their way into our home and broke through our door/entryway. I asked them for a judicial warrant signed by a judge but I was never shown anything.
I was still taken into custody.
I was detained for 5 days and moved through immigration detention facilities before being released.
For me, this is deeply personal. I have lived in this country since I was a child. I have had DACA for years. I had an unexpired work permit. I was living my life, working, loving my family, and contributing to my community.
I am having to fight for my ability to remain in the country I call home.
That is why I’m asking you to SHOW UP.
Please arrive by 12:30 PM
Our hearing begins at 1:00 PM
WEAR PINK! ![]()
Pink is our color of solidarity, love, strength, and community. Wear your favorite pink shirt, dress, accessory or go ALL OUT in pink. ![]()
IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE ATTENDING:
There is a limited number of people who can enter the courtroom, so not everyone will be able to sit inside.
That does NOT mean you aren’t needed.
WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY OUTSIDE TOO.
Whether you are inside the courtroom or standing outside with us, your presence matters.
Bring your signs.
Bring your friends.
Bring your pink.
Bring your love.
And if you are also going through an immigration case, please do not put yourself at risk by attending. You can still support us by sharing this event and helping spread the word.
Thank you to everyone who has stood beside me through this journey. Every message, share, donation, prayer, and act of support has reminded me that I am not alone.”
