Theresa Riel is a retired mathematics educator of 35 years. She has taught in public schools, and for the last 23 years taught at the East Campus of Pima Community College. She is a dues-paying union member of Arizona Education Association – Retired. In 2022, Theresa ran for the PCC Board of Governors seat for District 2. In January 2023, she was elected Chair of the Governing Board and served two years in that role. In January 2025, she was awarded Faculty Emeritus from Pima Community College.
Theresa bought her home in Ward 6 in 1996 and raised two sons there. Theresa volunteers at Sister Jose’s Womens’ Shelter and is a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona.”
Carolyn’s note: indeed Theresa Riel won a seat on the nonpartisan PCC Governing Board in Nov. 2022 by upsetting incumbent Demion Clinco.
