Town Hall on Prop 414

February 11 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm MST

by Carolyn Classen, blogger

ATTEND A TOWN HALL TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ‘SAFE & VIBRANT CITY’ (PROPOSITION 414) SALES TAX QUESTION IN MARCH – City of Tucson voters will be asked on Tuesday, March 11, to consider a new, temporary half-cent sales tax for the next 10 years to fund a safer and more vibrant Tucson. If Proposition 414 is approved, the City’s sales tax rate would increase to 3.1% and generate a projected $800 million over those 10 years. The revenue the half-cent sales tax would generate over that period would be split into five distinct categories, with 65.75% of the funding allocated to public safety investments and 34.25% allocated to community resiliency investments. There will be three town halls to learn more about Proposition 414. They will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at the El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 W. Irvington Road; Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Morris K. Udall Center, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road; and Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Donna R. Liggins Recreation Center, 2160 N. 6th Ave. All town halls will run from 5:30-7 p.m. To read more about Proposition 414, follow the top link below.”
