Throughout her career, Jennifer has focused on issues affecting women, children, and families, including health care, education, workforce development, and civic participation. In 2021, she became Community and Faith-Based Coordinator for Pima County’s Community and Workforce Development Department, expanding partnerships and increasing access to employment resources. Elected in November 2022 to the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board, Jennifer has helped advance a comprehensive Climate Action Plan, a 12-week Family Paid Leave policy, school safety initiatives providing gun locks to each school to promote gun safety, and successful voter approval of a Bond program and budget override. She was unanimously voted Governing Board President in 2025.”
Carolyn’s note: Jennifer is up for re-election, as is fellow board member Val Romero. There will likely be 6 candidates running for 2 seats, but the filing deadline is not till July 6, at 5 p.m. Jennifer has served as Mayor of South Tucson, and Chief of Staff for former D 2 Pima County Supervisor Ramon Valadez.
