Rocque currently serves as the appointed member of the Tucson City Council for Ward 5. Rocque is a Tucson native and an advocate for education in all forms as the means to inspire informed and engaged communities. With a background in marketing and communications, he has dedicated his career thus far to improving the educational environment as a place for anyone to learn, work, and support their community.
Previously, as the Executive Director of the Pima College Access Network, Rocque led initiatives to enhance post-secondary educational access across Tucson and Pima County. His role builds on his experience in public affairs and organizational development within the states public higher education system.
Previously, Rocque managed outreach and communications at Arizona State University’s Office of the University Provost, focusing on inclusive excellence and its role as a Hispanic Serving Institution. Before ASU, he served as a marketing strategist at the University of Arizona, under the senior vice president for research and innovation, contributing to the university’s research visibility in areas of space exploration, resource resiliency and diversity among those facilitating impacts and benefiting from them.”
Carolyn’s note: Former 4 term Ward 5 Councilman Richard Fimbres resigned on May 1, 2025 due to health reasons. Rocque was appointed to replace him on May 6, 2025 and will serve till December 2025. He is the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Education Commission, and is on leave from that position. Rocque was originally scheduled to speak at DGT on May 26, but that was the Memorial Day holiday so he was re-scheduled to June 30.
