Five men apply for vacant Ward 5 Council seat

The deadline to apply to be the place holder for the vacant Tucson Ward 5 Council seat was today at 9 a.m. The Tucson City Clerk has listed five applicants:

1) John Alan Adkisson, accountant
2) David Garcia, owner of Barrio Restoration Inc.
3) Gabriel Holguin, Ward 5 Council Aide
4) Robert Jaramillo, retired US Navy, Sunnyside School District board member
5) Rocque Perez II, Executive Director, Metro Education Commission

Redacted copies of their personal & financial information are online at the May 6 agenda for the Council’s special meeting at 3.m. The Mayor and Council will hear presentations from all the applicants at that meeting and vote on the appointment, from May 6 to December 1, 2025.

No LWV forum will be held for these applicants due to time constraints.

So if you have anything to report about these five Ward 5 applicants, contact the Mayor & Councilmembers before the meeting on May 6.

Running for the Ward 5 Council seat in the August 5, 2025 Dem primary are three candidates — Selina Barajas, Chris Elsner, and Jesse Lugo. The latter has the endorsement of retired Ward 5 Councilman Richard Fimbres. No Libertarian or Republican is running for Ward 5 in 2025.
