For Judicial Openings, the Biden/Harris Administration Has Delivered on Women and Non-White Nominees

From The 19th News

Unlike Donald ‘I killed Roe v Wade’ Trump whose judicial nominations were often white, male, and philosophically regressive, President Joe Biden, in greater numbers than Democrats Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, has chosen candidates that reflect the modern demographics and mainstream views of America.

From Washington Post

The Washington Post recently did an analysis comparing Biden and past President’s judicial picks going back to Dwight Eisenhower.

Confining this article to Presidents since Bill Clinton, Joe Biden has exceeded his immediate predecessors, especially Donald Trump, in the number of women and non-white judicial picks.

Whereas the majority of Presidents Clinton’s (70%,) Bush Jr (78%,) Obama’s (58%,) and Trump’s (76%,) judicial picks were male, Joe Biden has nominated more women (64%) to the federal bench than men.

That is truly historic.

No President before Joe Biden has nominated more women than men. If one looks at the picks of Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, and Ford, one would find that their female judicial picks were a steady one percent from all of them.

On nominating Non-White Candidates, President Biden has also turned the norm upside down, nominating 127 minority candidates compared to 74 white ones.

Of Biden’s Non-White selections:

  • 27 percent, including Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, are Black.
  • 15 percent are Hispanic.
  • 14 percent are Asian.
  • 5 percent are Racial.
  • 1 percent each for Native American and Middle Eastern.

Compare that to Donald ‘I was endorsed twice by David Duke’ Trump whose 37 out of 237 judicial nominees were Non-White.

Of those 37:

  • 4 percent were Black.
  • 4 percent were Hispanic.
  • 4 percent were Asian.
  • 3 percent were Multiracial.
  • 1 percent Middle Eastern
  • 0 percent Native American.

Also note that President Biden’s numbers even best President Obama, who in his eight years, nominated 120 Non-White Judicial candidates while choosing 210 White nominees.

Biden bested Obama on Non-White Judicial Picks in half the time.

This is like the historical fact of William Howard Taft actually breaking more monopolies than Theodore Roosevelt or Lyndon Johnson passing the Great Society, Civil Rights, and War on Poverty programs that John Kennedy could not get through.

Like many domestic areas like job creation and innovation, the Biden/Harris team has delivered on Judicial Nominations, bringing the process into Twenty-First Century America.

Voters need to remember this on November 5.
