The e-mail announcement from the Don Bivens for U.S. Senate campaign:
When I watch the news today, I see a very different Congress than the one I served in just a few years ago. In 2007, when Democrats became the majority party, we made a point to work with Republicans to get things done for the American people.
We passed ethics reform. Passed the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations. Made the Webb-Mitchell GI Bill the law of the land. We got it done; a Democratic Congress working with a Republican President.
That kind of attitude is missing today. This Congress is more interested in shouting over each other than in getting anything done.
The American people are paying the price. As a result, families struggle to make ends meet, skilled people can’t find work, and students face escalating tuition costs that put higher education out of reach for too many.
We need more common-sense fighters on our side; leaders who are ready and willing to put their heads down and get to work tackling the many issues facing working families.
That’s why I’m proud to endorse Don Bivens for the United States Senate.
To get America back on track, restore and strengthen the opportunity that has made our country great, we need leaders who will focus on tackling complex problems, not extremist policies that weaken our future.
That’s Don. And that’s why I’m excited to be standing with him in this campaign.
Don understands that we need to get America working again and we need to tackle an enormous debt problem that is hurting our long-term prosperity. He knows we can’t keep kicking-the-can down the road when it comes to solving the foreclosure crisis devastating Arizona neighborhoods or protecting Medicare and Social Security.
With so much at stake, this is a fight we cannot afford to lose. I hope you’ll join Don and me in this fight.
Your help now makes a big difference. Please help Don’s campaign grow by signing up on the campaign’s email list and Facebook page so that you can stay up to date with this important race.
Thanks for everything you’re doing.
Sincerely,
Harry Mitchell
