Former President Clinton Campaigns for Andrei Cherny

From Andrei Cherny Campaign

Former President Bill Clinton was making the rounds in Tucson on Saturday, November 5 speaking at events for both Senator Mark Kelly and Arizona Congressional District (CD) One Democratic Candidate (and former Clinton aide) Andrei Cherny.

The Arizona CD One race is one of two Republican-held seats most political observers will be watching going into election day in 2024 with David Schweikert trying to hold on to his seat in a now-redrawn Biden district that both Katie Hobbs and Mark Kelly also carried in 2022.

In an email to supporters announcing the Clinton appearance, the Cherny campaign conveyed:

“President Clinton showed us all that, when it comes to fighting on behalf of families, results matter. President Clinton has called Andrei “a critical part of the team” that balanced the budget, created millions of jobs, and passed the greatest expansion of children’s health care in American history.”

After the event, the campaign posted on social media:

Other CD One Candidates also weighed in on the Clinton visit.

Conor O’Callaghan commented to Blog for Arizona:

“I have some great memories with President Clinton spanning the last 15+ years and I am proud to have one of his Senior Advisors (Justin Cooper) chairing my campaign. I’m unsure if the President is aware of all the candidates in this primary but I am glad he got to meet other candidates in the race down in Tucson today. I prioritized spending the day with the Teamsters in Phoenix and campaigning in AZ01. I look forward to the President’s support when I win the primary.”

The O’Callaghan campaign also posted on social media:

Marlene Galan-Woods also met former President Clinton in Tucson, posting on social media:

  1. Is Andrei Cherny considered the Dem front runner in this CD 1 race? What about LD 5 House Rep. Dr. .Amish Shah?

      • Cherny probably has the best name recognition. But the Dem nominee for CD 1 has to face off with a long term R incumbent.
