Gallego, Romero, and Lieberman Call for Sustainable Clean Energy Solutions to End the Fear of Rising Gas Prices

As everyone is aware, gas prices have been on a constant rise since just before Russia invaded Ukraine two weeks ago.

Despite Republican talking points, this rise is not because of a failure in Biden/Harris Administration energy policies like the canceling of the Keystone Pipeline, a decline in American oil production,  or not granting drilling oil permits. All these claims have been proven categorically false.

Not that the truth has ever stopped the former Party of Lincoln from spewing big lie after big lie.

What is the real causes of the rising gas prices?

It is partially because one autocrat, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, has decided to invade another country, Ukraine, without legitimate reasons.

It is also because the leading executives of oil producing corporations never miss an opportunity to channel their avarice to make large profits on top of the already sizable financial gains they already “earn.”

Remember what has happened when there has been an environmental or international crisis like the Exon Valdez or the Iraq Wars.

Oil executives have routinely raised prices with impunity and no accountability.

They even do it when there are major holidays like Memorial and Labor Day weekends and no body raises a fuss because they are mostly conditioned to that eventuality.

So when people ask why gas prices are rising, it is not Joe Biden or Kamala Harris’s fault.

It is Mr. Putin and the oil executives who never miss an opportunity to make an extra buck.

Gallego, Romero, and Lieberman Call for Sustainable Clean Energy Solutions to End the Fear of Rising Gas Prices

Moving forward, in Arizona and across the United States, the drive to adopt clean energy sustainability programs like the construction of electric buses and electric vehicle charging stations must continue and even accelerate in order to end the fear of rising gas prices.

Bolstered by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these clean energy programs, when fully constructed and made operational, will reduce American consumers anxiety about rising gas prices and their dependency on needing to fill their cars with gasoline.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, and Gubernatorial Candidate Aaron Lieberman offered their perspective on the rising gas prices and the need to move to clean energy alternatives.

Readers should be reminded that both Mayors Gallego and Romero have been leading forces in modernizing their cities along clean energy infrastructure guidelines.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego

On the recent crisis and the need to move forward with clean energy sources, Mayor Gallego wrote:

“The short term jump in gas prices is uncomfortable, but I support President Biden’s efforts to end this unjust, unprovoked war on Ukraine. In the longer term, it’s even more reason to move toward vehicles and mass transit options that run on cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.”

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero

Mayor Romero stated:

“Current geopolitical conditions demonstrate why we have to accelerate our electric vehicle efforts. We need a parallel approach to transition our city fleet to EVs and build more charging infrastructure, and also grow our reserves to respond to fluctuating gas prices.”

Gubernatorial Candidate Lieberman relayed:

“The sooner we move towards electrification, the better it will be for our state and our wallets. There are some great programs; from Phoenix Union’s school buses to Flagstaff’s Mountain Line that are moving toward that goal. What we need is a comprehensive statewide approach that sets goals for the number of electric vehicles on our roads, invests in charging infrastructure, and reinstates the Governor’s Office of Energy Policy.”

Gallego, Romero, and Lieberman are all right.

Like Mayor Gallego said, despite the rising prices at the pump, it is necessary, for freedom and Democracy, to support the Administrations attempts the end of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine

It is also time to take the already existing efforts to shift to a clean energy infrastructure and, as Mayor Romero wrote, accelerate the efforts and end the dependency on the rising prices of gasoline.

It is good for the environment and, as Mr. Lieberman hinted at, the average Arizonan’s wallet.

It is time to fully turn the page and go full speed ahead to a clean energy future.
