GOP Debaters are All Anti-Abortion Losers

In a debate that only a Christian Nationalist could enjoy, the GOP candidates for President uniformly said they oppose abortion rights. Many Democrats avoided watching the debate for fear of having to vomit.

One was Mike Pence, a has-been churchy nerd who calls his wife “mother.” Pence spoke about the ecstatic moment when he realized that he would dedicate the rest of his life to making abortion more onerous. “After I gave my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I opened up the book, and I read: ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,’” Pence recalled.

Pence would like to bring back the Comstock Act, which prohibits the mailing of any implement that could be used in an abortion. Pence and the rare Black MAGA Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) support a minimum 15-week ban on abortion.

Sen. Scott also voiced support for a national ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, saying: “We can’t leave it to Illinois. We can’t leave it to Minnesota.”

Pudding fingers Ron Desantis

Florida Governor Ron Desantis is known as “pudding fingers” because he eats pudding with his hands. DeSantis signed a six-week abortion ban into law in Florida that prohibits the procedure so early that many women may not even know they are pregnant. The fascist law has yet to take effect, pending state Supreme Court review.

Desantis said he would sign a similar federal ban. “I will stand on the side of life,” he responded. “I understand Wisconsin will do it different than Texas. I understand Iowa and New Hampshire will do it different. But I will support the cause of life as governor and as president.”

Virtually unknown North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum also signed a six-week abortion ban. I have been to North Dakota, and it is a vast wasteland of dirt. North Dakota is one of the most reliably Republican states in the nation. See if you can find it on a map.

Con artist Nikki Haley, the South Carolina Governor, said she opposed a national abortion ban — but only because “we don’t have 60 Senate votes.” But if Congress did pass an abortion ban, Haley said in May, “Yes, of course I would sign it.” In the debate, Pence went after MAGA harpie South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for her answer. Pence called it “the opposite of leadership. “It’s not a states-only issue. It’s a moral issue,” he said, calling for “a minimum standard in every state.”

The Republicans are totally out of touch with the majority of voters, who support abortion rights. A record-high 69% of Americans say abortion should generally be legal in the first three months of pregnancy. These findings align with Americans’ reaction to the 2022 Dobbs decision. A 61% majority of Americans think overturning Roe v. Wade, thus ending constitutional protection for abortion rights and returning the matter to the states, was a “bad thing,”
