Politico reports, DeSantis says he won’t get involved with Trump’s potential indictment ‘in any way’:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday told reporters he won’t get involved in Donald Trump’s potential extradition if the former president is indicted by the Manhattan district attorney.

In his first comments on Trump’s likely indictment, DeSantis said he only knew about “rumors” of a pending arrest of Trump related to an investigation into payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election cycle.

“I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA,” [ah, there is the anti-semitic white supremacy!] said DeSantis, making a reference to billionaire donor George Soros’s support of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “He’s trying to do a political spectacle … I’ve got real issues I’ve got to deal with here in the state of Florida.”

“We’re not getting involved in it in any way,” he said.

[“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair,” DeSantis said.]

Under Florida law, the governor can intervene in an extradition matter if it is contested. But Trump’s lawyers have told media outlets that the president would likely surrender if he is indeed indicted.

Trump announced on Saturday that he could be arrested as soon as Tuesday and called on supporters to protest the decision.

Over the last two days, Trump allies have repeatedly zinged DeSantis for failing to jump to Trump’s defense like other supporters of the president, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. They have urged him to use his power as governor since Trump is a Florida resident.

Even after DeSantis’ Monday news conference, Donald Trump Jr., the president’s idiot son, attacked DeSantis on Twitter, posting: “So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue’ Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend.”

Brad Reed adds, ‘Ron wants him locked up’: MAGA faithful rage as DeSantis won’t interfere in Trump extradition:

[M]any hardcore Trump supporters were enraged that DeSantis repeated the allegations being leveled against the former president when he said, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over an alleged affair.”

“Basically Ron DeSantis is trying to call President Trump a liar over the news that President Trump may be indicted and arrested,” fumed MAGA influencer and failed GOP congressional candidate Laura Loomer. “He also kept repeating the word ‘porn star’ in an effort to mock President Trump.”

Trump supporter Alex Bruesewitz [another MAGA influencer], meanwhile, accused DeSantis of essentially being in cahoots with Democrats in arresting the former president.

“The Biden regime is trying to lock up their number one political opponent, that’s an issue that matters to all sane Americans!” he charged. “Sadly, Ron wants Trump locked up just as much as the Dems do.”

Grace Chong, the CFO of Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, simple wrote an angry all-caps response to DeSantis’ statement: “WTF IS THIS.”

UPDATE: And from the convicted felon himself, Steve Bannon attacks ‘weasel’ Ron DeSantis for refusing to stop Trump arrest:

MAGA podcaster Steve Bannon on Monday lashed out at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) after he indicated that he would not stand in the way of extradition if former President Donald Trump is indicted in New York.

Bannon responded to DeSantis on his Monday program.

“That’s, that’s not, that’s, that’s not an acceptable — that’s just not an acceptable response,” he said.

Bannon’s guest, radio host John Fredericks, offered his take.

“This is one of the most unbelievable, feckless, weasel, consultant-driven responses in a crisis you’ve ever heard,” Fredericks remarked. “And Ron DeSantis has hid [sic] for 72 hours since this thing broke. Finally, the pressure, his consultants are telling him, hey, your poll numbers are dropping, you gotta make a statement.”

Bannon agreed with his guest.

“Governor DeSantis, you’re better than this,” he opined. “That was a weasel approach.”

UPDATE: Salon reports, “Pure weakness”: MAGA rages at “total fraud” Ron DeSantis for throwing Trump under the bus:

Trump’s family and allies lashed out over DeSantis’ response. Donald Trump Jr. called the move “pure weakness” in a Monday tweet.

“So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue,'” he wrote. “Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition.”

Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington called DeSantis a “total fraud” for failing to come to Trump’s aid.

“Are you kidding me? SAY HIS NAME!” Harrington wrote on Twitter. “What a total fraud he is. He takes a dig at President Trump who is being falsely accused and can’t even say his name. It proves DeSantis is totally fine with a third world nation arresting their number one political opposition. Not MAGA!”

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon called DeSantis’ response a “weasel approach.”

“And don’t throw in anything about the porn star — don’t need to hear it from you,” Bannon complained.

Bannon also hosted Mike Lindell, founder and CEO of My Pillow and an ardent Trump supporter. Lindell asserted that “DeSantis is the Trojan Horse we thought he was.”

“I just wanna put that out there — how disgusting he is,” he said, accusing DeSantis of working to undermine his conspiracy theories about Trump’s election loss.

Doesn’t sound like Ron “Go-Go Boots” DeSantis is winning over the MAGA fascists in the personality cult of Donald Trump. “Please proceed” in tearing each other apart.
