Governor Brewer rushes to de facto Governor ‘King’ Russell Pearce’s aid

Screenshot-3 E.J. Montini of the Arizona Republic gets it exactly right today regarding Governor Jan Brewer's fundraising letter on behalf of our de facto governor, "King" Russell Pearce. The two are joined at the hip by their mutual demagoguery over SB 1070. Brewer rushes to puppeteer's aid:

She won the election by signing Pearce's Senate Bill 1070.

Now, Pearce faces a recall election and Brewer is coming to his aid. A letter from her encouraging donations appears on the website of Protect an American Patriot, the group fighting Pearce's recall.

Brewer is effusive in her support for Pearce, speaking mostly about his fight against illegal immigration but not mentioning at all the roughly $40,000 the Fiesta Bowl says that he accepted by way of game tickets and trips. Hmmm.

As happens when politicians are up against the wall, they resort to fear. In this case, Brewer says of those behind Pearce's recall, "The very same organizations and individuals who organized boycotts of Arizona, who opposed me in my last election and who have consistently been advocates for unsustainable government spending are at it again. This time they mean to recall from office my friend and colleague State Senate President Russell Pearce."

The truth is the only people who could have signed petitions to recall Pearce are registered voters in his Mesa district. More than 10,000 did so.

[I]f you're Brewer, one thing is certain. You OWE Pearce. Big time.

After all, a puppet can't speak without a puppeteer.

UPDATE: The corporate lobbyists love them some "King" Russell Pearce as well — what, no Fiesta Bowl lobbyist sponsor? Political Insider – Sen. Russell Pearce seeks lobbyist hosts:

More than a half dozen lobbyists who do business at the state Capitol are on board to host an Aug. 17 fundraiser to benefit Pearce. And, according to the invite, "President Pearce is currently recruiting additional hosts for this fundraising event."

In addition to Williams, others already lending their names to the fundraiser are lobbyists Joe Abate, Tom Dorn, Stuart Goodman, Dave Kimball, Michael Low, and Jeff Sandquist.

Where's Chuck Coughlin and HighGround Public Affairs Consultants, the real puppetmaster in Arizona?
