In a news environment that has wrongfully given greater airtime to outlandish matters like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dispatching the body of a bear cub in Central Park, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and her team at the State Capitol have been continuing to build back better in the Grand Canyon State by funding and steering programs designed to move Arizona forward and lift people up.
On August 1, 2024, the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity launched ReadyTechGo, “an innovative network of Arizona Colleges designed to equip Arizona’s workforce with essential skills in advanced manufacturing.”
The fields that are the focus of the program are aerospace, energy storage, electric vehicles, semiconductors, and robotics.
Among the manufacturing partners are Intel, Boeing, and Taiwan Semiconductor.
The partnering community colleges/districts are Central Arizona, Estrella, Mesa, and Pima.
Posting on social media, Governor Hobbs stated:

Yesterday, August 5, 2024, The Governor and the Arizona Commerce Authority announced the “approval of Volume II of Arizona’s application for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. This officially unlocks the $993 million in funding, which will be utilized to connect every Arizonan to reliable internet services.”
Connecting every Arizonan to the Internet is the Twenty-First Century equivalent of ensuring Europeans in the High Renaissance having access to documents produced by the first printing presses.
Commenting on this forward-looking measure, Ms. Hobbs conveyed in a press release:
“Broadband is the thread that connects all of us, and with this funding, we are going to make sure our networks are accessible, reliable, and affordable for every Arizonan. Today’s announcement represents a critical next step that will lead to new jobs, stronger communities, and better quality of life. We are going to continue working day in and day out to ensure these funds help create a thriving Arizona for everyone.”
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority commented in the same press release:
“Today’s announcement represents a historic milestone that’s been years in the making and follows countless hours of engaging with our local community partners. Access to reliable, high-speed internet is closely connected with economic opportunity, especially in our rural communities. We’re grateful to Governor Hobbs for her leadership and all of our federal, state, and local partners for their continued collaboration.”
With continued economic advances like these, local historians may one day brand these developments Hobbonomics.
