On July 9, the Blue Dogs in the House sent a letter stating their concerns about healthcare legislation. The message I got from the letter was, "Let's emphasize the problems and slow the process down." Giffords was among the Blue Dogs who signed.
By way of contrast, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, co-chaired by Grijalva and Lynn Woolsey, sent a letter to Obama airing their views on health care legislation. Here's the money passage:
Let us be clear: a strong public option is already a compromise for the CPC. Many of us strongly supported a single-payer approach. We will not support a weakened public option. The Congressional Progressive Caucus stands united to provide high quality, affordability andaccessibility in healthcare choices for all Americans.
