Grijalva, other legislators arrested at immigration rally

by David Safier

325286Raul Grijalva was one of nine of legislators who allowed themselves to be arrested at today's immigration rally (official name: “Camino Americano” [“American Road”]). Another was John Lewis, who said, “I’ve been arrested a few times, and I don’t mind getting arrested again for something that is right and fair and just."

Along with Grijalva and Lewis, according to Politico, Reps. Charlie Rangel of New York, Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, Joe Crowley of New York, Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, Keith Ellison of Minnesota and Al Green of Texas were also arrested.

Other Democrats participated in the rally, including Nancy Pelosi, Robert Menendez and Mike Honda. Four Republicans participated as well, including David Valadao of California, Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida, and two others whose name I couldn't find in the article.

Thank you, Raul, for representing Southern Arizona so forcefully and so well.
