In two new ads, the Harris for President Campaign makes its case that she, the child of immigrants and humble background is best suited to succeed Joe Biden in January 2025.
In an appeal to Latino voters. the first ad, “Determination,” describes the Vice President’s meteoric rise from a middle-class child of immigrants to the Vice Presidency with Hispanic speakers explaining how Ms. Harris has helped Californians and later the American People.
Please read the script for the ad below:
NARRATORS: “When you’re raised by an immigrant mother, you learn what’s possible with determination.
And determination is how Kamala Harris went from working in McDonald’s to prosecutor, state attorney general, U.S. senator, and our vice president — in only one generation.
And with that same determination, she always defended us.
As a prosecutor, she protected us from violent criminals. As attorney general, she beat the banks that kicked families out of their homes. As our vice president, she fights for women’s reproductive rights—every day.
And she beat the pharmaceutical companies to lower costs for insulin and prescriptions.
As our president, determination is how she’ll stop the corporations who gouge our families on rent and groceries. And she won’t stop fighting until we win. Because she knows, with determination:
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: When we fight, we win. I’m Kamala Harris, and I approve this message.“
Harris-Walz Senior Spokesperson Kevin Munoz commented on the new ad:
“As the daughter of an immigrant mother, like our community, Vice President Harris knows the power of determination. It’s why throughout her life she’s taken on violent criminals, big banks, and greedy corporations—and won. Vice President Harris will use that same determination to beat Donald Trump, who is proudly running on an anti-Latino platform that demonizes immigrants, raises costs, and would make our communities less safe.
“This ad buy also sends a clear signal that Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are leveraging the historic outpouring of grassroots support we’ve seen, and using it to earn the support of the Latino vote. Because it’s determination that will win this election.”
The second ad called “Knows” contrasts the Vice President’s middle-class upbringing and solutions with Mr. Trump’s upper class background and lack of plans to help lift people up.
The script for that ad is below:
NARRATOR: She grew up in a middle class home. She was the daughter of a working mom. And she worked at McDonald’s while she got her degree.
Kamala Harris knows what it’s like to be middle class.
It’s why she’s determined to lower healthcare costs and make housing more affordable.
Donald Trump has no plan to help the middle class—just more tax cuts for billionaires.
Being president is about who you fight for, and she’s fighting for people like you.
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: I’m Kamala Harris, and I approve this message.
Harris-Walz Senior Spokesperson Lauren Hitt commented:
“Being president is about who you fight for. Vice President Harris is the daughter of a working mother and worked at a McDonald’s to put herself through college. She knows what middle-class families go through. Now, she’s running for president to make it easier for families to not just get by, but get ahead. As president, Harris’ top priority will be taking on corporate greed to lower costs. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is running to give more handouts to his ultra-wealthy friends at the expense of working Americans. That’s the contrast voters are going to see between now and Election Day.”
Along with those two new ads, the campaign is having a field day going after Donald ‘I killed Roe v Wade’ Trump for the many outlandish statements and falsehoods uttered at his press conference at Mara Largo yesterday.
Case in point, the failed President’s seeming support for using the federal government to ban the abortion pill, mifepristone.
Reacting to this political gift which will probably form new political ads shortly, Harris-Walz 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez commented:
“Today Donald Trump made clear what his Project 2025 allies have been saying for months: If he is elected, he will use his power and every tool of the federal government to rip away access to medication abortion, effectively banning abortion nationwide in all 50 states.
“Already, women across the country are suffering because of the nightmare Donald Trump unleashed by overturning Roe v. Wade. That reality – women forced to the brink of death before receiving the care they need, doctors facing the threat of jail time for doing their jobs, and survivors of rape and incest made to flee their states for basic health care – will only get worse if Donald Trump wins and wipes out access to medication abortion. The stakes this November couldn’t be higher, and only one ticket is fighting to protect our freedoms: Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”
