In two contrasting ads that are now appearing in the battleground states “targeting persuadable voters that watch programs like 9-1-1, Brilliant Minds, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as networks like the Hallmark Channel and TLC during medicine and health-related movies and shows like Dr. Pimple Popper and Untold Stories of the ER,” the Harris/Walz Campaign shows viewers how Donald Trump is bad for American Health Care and how Vice President Harris would protect it.
In the first ad, “Concepts of a Plan,” the Harris/Walz team goes after Trump’s debate response answer of, after nine years, not coming up with a qualitative health care plan of his own that would help Americans. It also shows what Harris saying what she would do for people’s health care as President.
Below is the script of the ad:
Linsey Davis: President Trump, you have long vowed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Donald Trump: If we come up with something, we’re going to do it, and we’re going to replace it.
Linsey Davis: You still do not have a plan.
Donald Trump: I have concepts of a plan. There are concepts and options we have to do that.
Vice President Harris: You have no plan.
When Donald Trump was president, he tried to get rid of the Affordable Care Act.
And what the Affordable Care Act has done is eliminate the ability of insurance companies to deny people with preexisting conditions.
You remember what that was like?
We, over the last four years, have strengthened the Affordable Care Act, and now we have capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month. We have capped the cost of prescription medication for seniors at $2,000 a year.
And when I am president, we will do that for all people, understanding that access to health care should be a right and not just a privilege of those who can afford it.
I’m Kamala Harris, and I approve this message.
The second ad, called “Yamelisa” stars Allentown, Pennsylvania resident Yamelisa Taveras who tells of the struggle she has faced affording either her diabetes treatment or basic needs.
She supports Harris because of her commitment, as President, to extend the Prescription Drug Benefit to all Americans.
Below is the script for the ad.
Yamelisa Taveras: My name is Yamelisa Taveras.
I was diagnosed with diabetes at 10 years old, and the cost of insulin is a challenge.
At times, I’ve had to decide between my health or basic necessities.
Kamala, taking on the drug companies to lower the cost of insulin for seniors, showed me that she cares.
As president, she’ll fight to lower the cost of insulin and medicine for everyone.
Vice President Harris: I’m Kamala Harris and I approve this message.
Commenting on the ads in a campaign press release, Harris-Walz Communications Director Michael Tyler wrote:
“Being president is about who you fight for. Every time Donald Trump opens his mouth and says ‘health care,’ he makes clear that he’s only out there for himself and his wealthy friends – not the tens of millions of seniors, Medicaid recipients, and Americans with preexisting health conditions that know the Affordable Care Act is a lifeline. Vice President Harris will spend every day as president fighting for all Americans, lowering costs, and protecting every American’s access to health care – because health care is a right for all Americans, not a privilege.”
The ads come out a day after the Harris/Walz Campaigned released a report highlighting the rising health care costs Americans would face if the Trump/Vance team wins and adopts their Project 2025 agenda.
