Hermey, er, Paul Gosar abandons his district to run in new CD 4

Hermie Hermey the Misfit Elf Paul Gosar, the dentist who plays a congressman on TV, has decided to abandon his constituents in CD 1 and move to Prescott, AZ to run in the new CD 4, a "safe" Tea-Publican district.

Gosar abandoned a newly competitive CD 1 where he would have faced a tough challenger, either a rematch with well-funded former Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, or Arizona's first Navajo candidate for Congress, Wenona Baldenegro, in a Voting Rights Act coalition district designed to allow Arizona's tribal nations an opportunity to elect one of their own for the first time.

CD 1 is now an open district and moves into the "likely pick-up" category for Democrats.

It ain't going to get any easier for the misfit dentist in the new CD 4. Gosar will switch districts, run in CD4 – Arizona Capitol Times (subscription required):

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar confirmed rumors that have been swirling around in political circles for months, announcing on Saturday that he will move to Prescott and seek reelection in Arizona’s new 4th Congressional District.

Gosar announced [Saturday] morning that he’s moving from Flagstaff to CD4, which takes him out of the competitive but Democratic-leaning 1st Congressional District. Prescott is part of his current district, but not the new CD1 he was drawn into during the redistricting process.

But in CD4, he’ll likely face a three-way GOP primary fight against Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who formally announced his campaign on Wednesday, and Sen. Ron Gould, R-Lake Havasu City, who formed an exploratory committee in December. Gould is expected to formally enter the race next week, after the legislative session begins.

So who does the GOP have in the new CD 1? According to the Arizona Capitol Times:

Corporation Commission Chairman Gary Pierce, who lives in the East Valley but owns a home in Forest Lakes in southern Coconino County, has said he may run in CD1 if Gosar moves to CD4, and former Rep. Bill Konopnicki, R-Safford, is also considering a run.

Well, Konopnicki was fired by Tea-Publican voters for being "too moderate," a RINO in 2010. He is at a distinct disadvantage in a Tea-Publican primary. Pierce would have to resign from the Corporation Commission to run, creating a vacancy on the Corporation Commission.

The "Birthers, Birchers, Secessionists" of the Tea Party should go all in and ask Sen. Sylvia "6,000 years" Allen to run for Congress. Why not? We already have three wingnuts running in the new CD 4 with Gosar, Babeu and Gould. Go crazy Tea Party!

UPDATE: Here is the video of Sen. Sylvia Allen twice saying "the Earth is 6,000 years old" — not human civilization, or any other context as her apologists assert. It is what it is.
