In a closed door meeting among frantic Senate Republicans like Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Thom Tillis, who expressed worry about what Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans Big and Beautiful Economic bill would do to their electoral prospects when the people they suckered into voting for them realized by the decrease in the money going into their wallets that the proposed budget cuts in Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Education aid would impact them and not fictitious hordes of illegal immigrants or free loaders, Political Prince of Darkness-Grim Reaper of Democracy-Moscow Mitch McConnell stood up and made the below remarks:

Remember McConnell’s comment came not even a month after Iowa Senator Joni Ernst’s dismissive and cryptic comments to town hall attendees concerned about the Medicaid and food stamp cuts that “We’re all going to die” anyway.
MAGA and traditional supply side Republicans think so low of the people they represent that they are not even hiding their cruelty and lack of concern for the millions of people that depend on these programs to survive.
Arizona’s two Senators, Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, blasted McConnell for his remarks.
Gallego, who has been spending a lot of time on social media pointing out how the Big and Beautiful MAGA monstrosity will hurt children who need free school breakfasts and lunch, mothers after delivering birth, rural hospitals, public lands, schools, Medicaid, and food stamps, said of McConnell’s assertion:
“They’ll get over it”
“We are all going to die”
“Republicans don’t care if you die as long as they get their billionaire tax cuts.”
Later he posted this cartoon.
Senator Kelly, who like Gallego, has consistently pointed out how Trump’s Big and Beautiful Bill is only beautiful for billionaires because the measure robs from the poor and middle class to give the rich tax cuts and private school tuition free money they do not need while everyone else starves or can not afford to go the doctor, posted:
“Get over it.” That’s Republicans’ message to Americans worried about losing their health care because of Trump’s big bill. Are people in rural communities supposed to get over hospitals closing? What about people whose kids or parents have to skip doctor visits because they can’t afford it? I won’t get over it and neither should you.”
Arizona House Congressional District Seven Candidate Adelita Grijalva also condemned McConnell for his remarks, commenting to Blog for Arizona:
“The devastating cuts to Medicaid, ACA coverage, and other protections for low-income Americans that Mitch McConnell and MAGA Republicans support would result in at least 51,000 preventable deaths each year, yet he callously suggests people will “get over it”. This is typical of their cruel indifference to people’s lives and yet another sad reminder that Republicans rather give tax cuts to billionaires than help our friends and neighbors in need.”
Third Way Communications Director Kate deGruyter also offered her organization’s perspective on the Ernst and McConnell insensitive and outlandish statements, writing:
“First Joni Ernst and now Mitch McConnell are showing a cold, shameful indifference to the wellbeing of their neighbors and communities. They will do whatever MAGA demands, regardless of who it hurts. The massive Republican bill drives up costs, harms rural hospitals, and leaves millions of working families sicker and more vulnerable from massive Medicaid cuts. The only upside of these ugly comments is that it shows voters that these Republicans don’t care at all about making life easier and more affordable for American families.”
Grijalva, deGruyter, Gallego, and Kelly are all right and the people, after seeing the financial impact of Trump and MAGA’s Big and Beautiful bill on their bank accounts and ways of live should prove McConnell wrong and not get over it by voting the elected representatives who supported this reverse Robin Hood fiscal plan out of office in 2026.
The only reason to unfortunately think McConnell may be right is millions of people did get over how poorly Donald Trump did the last eight years with his constant lying (think Mexico paying for the border wall and health care better than Obamacare,) tax cuts for the wealthy, poor management of the Coronavirus, his two impeachments, his treasonous attempts to keep power on January 6, 2021, being found liable for sexual assault, and his 34 criminal convictions by believing his lies again about lowering prices and bringing an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine on day one and electing him again.
Hopefully, the people have learned their lesson and they will prove McConnell wrong this time.
