In Any Funding Deal Over DHS, the Innocent Need to be Released from America’s Concentration Camps, and Noem, Lewandowski, Miller, and Hohman Have to Go

With another Government Shutdown looming over, not health care costs this time, but what to fund ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer is negotiating a potential deal to avoid it with the White House.

In reporting from the New York Times and MSNOW, the outlines of the deal would be:

  • Splitting off DHS funding from the other government sectors so the Senate can approve those right away.
  • Give a temporary funding extension to DHS while…
  • Negotiations continue on a permanent DHS bill that includes restrictions on ICE thugs no longer wearing masks, requiring them to wear body cameras and have identification on them, halting “roving arrests,” mandating that they have judicial warrants before any search or arrest, and similar accountability measures if they abuse situations where they use force.

While all of these proposals the Democrats are demanding are right and necessary and echo many common sense public safety proposals put forth by organizations like Third Way, they need to insist on more vital conditions to get their votes.

The first is making sure every innocent person, especially the children, being detained in one of America’s Concentration Camps is released. If it is an American citizen who is there because he looks brown, let that person go. If it is a family that is here legally on an asylum claim, let them go. If it is people who have followed every correct step in the immigration process, let them go to their home in any of the United States.

Second, insist that Trump fire all the White Nationalist vermin who are responsible for the brutality and killings over the last year and who have put these innocent people and the country through needless hell.

That means getting rid of Kristi Noem, her advisor, and sleeping partner Corey Lewandowski.

That means dismissing Stephen ‘Judenrat’ Miller and Tom ‘$50,000 bribe man’ Hohman.

They also need to fire and prosecute any ICE agent who has committed crimes against the people and launch a massive vetting and retraining program where they get rid of the rotten apples.

Watch Senator Mark Kelly’s comments on the Senate Floor. They seem to reflect what is needed in any deal.

Or read the below post from Senator Ruben Gallego.

When a new Democratic Senate and Administration come in, ICE can be torn down, and a new, rebranded organization, with legal parameters that restrict potential abuses, can be constructed to protect the border and promote public safety.

Democrats should insist on the release of the innocents and the firing of the White Nationalist-Fascist wing of the Trump regime, as well as the reform conditions for ICE already put forth in the Senate proposals.
