Well, there is one cliffhanger in this Arizona Primary Season.
In the contest to succeed Democratic Senate Nominee Ruben Gallego in Arizona Congressional House District Three, former Phoenix Councilwoman and Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari has a 42-vote lead over former Arizona Democratic Party Chair and State Legislator Raquel Teran.
Since the margin of Ms. Ansari’s lead is .10, an automatic recount, per Arizona law, has been triggered.
According to a posting by Channel 12 Journalist Brahm Resnik, the process should begin on August 15 and the recount results may take two weeks to determine.
Commenting on her lead and optimism for ultimate victory once the recount is concluded, Former Vice Mayor Ansari posted the below message on social media.
Former Chairperson Teran also seemed optimistic in her posting:
Whatever the ultimate result of the recount, the winner is almost certain, given the Democratic demographics of the district, to succeed Mr. Gallego when the next session of Congress opens in January 2025.
