The MAGA Republican Party is an anti-democracy party. Gosar’s public endorsement revealed the true intentions of Trump’s most devoted followers. The name of the game is to overthrow democracy, restore Trump to power, and then terminate the Constitution.

If it would have been suggested even a decade ago that a sitting House Republican would support getting rid of the Constitution so that a president could be unlawfully elected to the presidency for life, people would not have believed it, but that is where the Republican Party is today.

Trump can dine with Nazis and call for the termination of the Constitution and MAGA Republicans get in line behind him.

Paul Gosar is an extremist, but Republicans aren’t criticizing and disavowing Trump [or Paul Gosar]. Their silence equals complicity and enabling an anti-democracy movement in the United States.

“Traitor” Kevin McCarty has promised to restore Rep. Gosar to his committee assignments after he was censured for posting an animated video that depicted him killing New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an action he has refused to acknowledge as inappropriate. Gosar censured, stripped from committees over threatening video.

Rep. Gosar uses his free time to attend white nationalist events, where he has become an icon after leading the GQP attempt to not certify the 2020 electoral college vote as Trump’s personal militia of MAGA/QAnon cult followers stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Paul Gosar spoke to a white nationalist conference, and they chanted his name. “Gosar has been popular with [Neo-Nazi] Nick Fuentes and other [white nationalist] extremists for years.”

That would be the same Neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes who recently attended dinner at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago with anti-Semite Kanye West. Republicans aren’t criticizing and disavowing Trump for his embrace of QAnon and white nationalism.

Gosar chose the occasion of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to announce that he agrees with Trump.

On the day we remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who died in one of the worst attacks our country has ever seen.

Will he swear that oath on a Bible?

Gosar, meanwhile, has done so six times. And on Jan. 3, the Arizona congressman is due to raise his right hand once again.

At that time, he will swear the time-honored oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

He’ll swear that he will “bear true faith and allegiance to the same” and that he will “take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion.”

This, from the congressman who on Pearl Harbor Day called for “an unprecedented cure” to return Donald Trump to the White House.

Gosar should reconsider whether he wants to put his hand on a Bible and swear such an oath before God and country.

He also should reconsider whether he belongs in Congress.
