Translation of the headline: It's OK If You're Babeau's Department Spokesperson.
Lt. Tamatha Villar was caught going over 90 MPH three times. The last time, the officer who stopped her estimated she was traveling 100 MPH, with her 10 year old son in the front passenger seat.
What happened to her? Nothing.
By way of background, going over 90 MPH can move you beyond a normal speeding ticket to a misdemeanor. Getting caught twice can land you in jail. Three times, and you're virtually certain to spend times behind bars, and have your license taken away. If your 10 year old son is in the car with you the third time, I'm guessing the judge would decide your recklessness demands a pretty harsh sentence.
But Sheriff Babeu's Department Spokesperson gets nothing. Well, almost nothing. She was given a reprimand and told to "make a conscious effort to observe and obey the posted speed limit." The article implies the reprimand had some teeth — she's no longer the department spokesperson — but she has no tickets from the three speeding incidents. Her record is clean.
