Is bullying a Christian value?

by David Safier

Here's a scathing East Valley Trib headline on a Howie Fischer article:

Christian values lobbyist blamed for killing anti-bullying legislation

It seems Center for Arizona Policy President Cathi Herrod thinks anti-bullying legislation is part of the gay agenda, so she worked to kill the bill.

These are the same people who howl when students are told they can't have a cross on their binder (then, when they complain, are told it's OK). But it seems bullying is fine when it's aimed at . . . you know, those people, because God hates them, so they deserve it.

Here's what Herrod wrote in her internet newsletter:

"There is no doubt about it; the ‘bullying’ theme is agenda-driven propaganda. . . . Groups like Equality Arizona and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network have used the bullying issue in order to gain access to our public schools."

Where, oh where are the peace makers, the compassionate, the religious people who love and protect those who are vilified? The good Christian people who believe in their hearts, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"?
