It’s official: Debbie Wasserman Schultz new DNC Chairwoman

Wasserman-SchultzIt's official. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the newly elected Democratic National Committee Chairwoman. She was formally elected by acclimation at today's DNC meeting. USA Today reports Wasserman Schultz rises to top of Democratic Party:

Newly elected Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz vowed to aggressively fight Republicans in next year's elections and help elect President Obama to a second term.

"Let no charge go unanswered. Let no man or woman bear false witness against a Democrat and let no voter cast a ballot for a Republican simply because they don't know what Democrats have done for them or what Republicans have done to them," said Wasserman Schultz, a Florida congresswoman.

Wasserman Schultz replaces Tim Kaine, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

Wasserman Schultz, 44, was first elected to the U.S. House in 2004. She is a breast cancer survivor and happens to be from a state that plays a key role in presidential elections.

In 2006, the congresswoman helped run the party's successful "red to blue" campaign in 2006, when Democrats won back the House majority.

Wasserman Schultz is also a close friend of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, and an infrequent visitor to Arizona. Maybe Arizona Democrats will finally get some attention from the DNC like, oh I don't know, the DNC Chairwoman serving as the keynote speaker at fundraiser events (hint, hint). You are always welcome here in Baja Arizona, Madam Chairwoman.
