Another day.
Another prominent Arizona Republican endorses the Harris/Walz ticket.
For the second time in two Presidential election cycles, former Arizona Senator and Representative Jeff Flake has put country over party and endorsed the Democratic ticket.
Basing his endorsement on character and knowing the two nominees and their love of the country, Flake said in a statement posted on social media:
“I’m a conservative Republican who had the honor to serve my home state of Arizona in the United States House of Representatives and Senate for nearly two decades. I believe that America is a great country. I believe that our best days lie ahead. I want to support a candidate for President who believes the same. I believe that we don’t have to agree on every issue or policy, but that we should use the political process created by our Founders to debate and persuade, not disparage and demonize. I want to support a candidate who understands that political opponents are our fellow citizens – the “loyal opposition” as our parties once knew each other – not the enemy. Having spent the past three years overseas as a U.S. Ambassador, I’ve seen up close that we have very real enemies abroad. We also have vital and indispensable allies. I want to support a Presidential candidate who understands and appreciates the difference. I want to support a Presidential candidate who understands and appreciates the difference. I believe in our Constitutional system and in the rule of law, and I want to support a candidate who respects the will of the voters and would never attempt to use the powers of the Presidency to overturn an election after having been turned out by the voters. Finally, I want to support a Presidential candidate who seeks to unite our country rather than one who divides us; one who represents the ideals of a new generation of leadership based not on grievances of the past, but hope for the future. **For all of these reasons, I’ll be supporting Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President.** I’ve served with Kamala in the U.S. Senate. I’ve also served with Tim in the House of Representatives. I know them. I know firsthand of their fine character and love of country. I would encourage all Republicans who feel this way to do the same. After all, in times like these, there is nothing more conservative than putting country over party.”
AZ Central also posted a video version of his endorsement. Please click here to view.
It is getting to the point that the only Arizona “Republicans” that are endorsing Mr. Trump are White Nationalist Reactionary Fanatics like Wendy Rogers and Vince Leach who think the Hand Maids Tale and Project 2025 are guidebooks to creating a Fascist American Nightmare Society.
Arizona will be a tight race again in 2020.
Margins will be thin and prevailing in Maricopa County will be key.
Senator Flakes’s endorsement, like the 120 other prominent Republicans for Harris in the Grand Canyon State like Mesa Mayor John Giles and other former members of the Arizona State Legislature may help make the difference in the East Valley of Maricopa County and determine if Arizona goes blue or red on November 5.

You forgot to mention that Biden made Flake our ambassador to Turkey, a post he may keep if Harris wins. Seems relevant.
I am sure you were unaware of that, being the crack journalist that you are.
He is not the Ambassador anymore. I am surprised a crack public servant like you was not aware of it.
Call the cops there’s been a murder! 🙂
You are correct. He left about one month ago. I should have known that but I let my subscription to the Turkish Times lapse two months ago. My bad.
You need to get out and read more John.
What?!?
That might mean rexpecting an R member of the AZ legislature to read more than a selectively-edited version of the Bible, Mein Kampf, and industry P&L statements.
Let’s unpack this, just for fun.
John Who Lives Off Taxpayer Money Kavanagh makes a snarky, insulting attempt to mock David Gordon, for some weird reason, is shown to be wrong, tries a snarky “my bad” apology, and tries a snarky joke blaming an imaginary news source to provide cover for his bruised ego. LOL!
This is the same guy who whines about how he’s treated here doing this crap. 😂
Well, at least he’s inconsistent!
WTF is wrong with this guy? Just say “you’re right, I stand corrected” or something similar, like a grown man. It’s not like this is a world changing issue.
This is why sane people think the GQP is weird. I’m sure he was strutting around the house like a peacock after his initial comment, thinking he’d sent David to the burn unit. 😆
On the positive side, I’m no longer of the opinion that he’s a useless troll, because I get a laugh every time he posts. 🤣
Thanks for all the smiles, JGCK! You’re the best!
