Now, I certainly expressed the expectation that, if elected, Jesse Kelly would soon resign from Congress and just get a job as a highly-paid petroleum industry lobbyist. But now Jim Nintzel at the Tucson Weekly is reporting that Jesse has taken a job with Citizens United.
I think the conclusion is clear: Kelly's campaign was an audition. Not for public office – for the job of mouthpeice for millionaire propaganists. So glad we could help advance your career, Jesse. Citizens United, you sure picked a winner there. We provided ample evidence that Jesse sure knows how to stick to the script.
Simply surreal. You couldn't make this shit up if you tried…

How twisted. Claiming credit for the very things you despise. More evidence that living in a fact-free universe leads to delusion.
Thank you, Azterritory…just my naature to try and knock some sense into the senseless. Glutton for aggravation, I guess.:)
🙂 I know, I know. I like to at least give it a shot that facts matter. Between this one, and that Falcon dude…well, lost causes don’t even come close.Crazy what some people think.
Well said as always Cheri, but trying to school this guy is like teaching a pig to sing. You never get anywhere and you just annoy the hell out of the pig.
You mean like Rod Blagojevich attempted?
Dang, girl. You still try to school this fool? His worldview is whack. Lost cause. Move on…
August 26, 1920. Look it up.
And by the way, Social Security will not impoverish future generations. We will strengthen this program that has served many so well. Taking care of our own.
The 15th Amendment gave MEN of color the right to vote. There was still fraud and violence in the South because of black men being allowed to vote. Some people were not so pleased to see that progress.
Civil Rights legislation was begun by JFK. It was a passion for him. Then his assassination happened, and LBJ, signed this Civil Rights legislation into law. He also signed the Voting Rights Act into law. If I’m not mistaken, both JFK and LBJ were Democrats.
President Hayes…might as well have been a Democrat.Republicans now would never lay claim to him as one of them. He valued equality and public education. Republicans are having none of that today.
So, I haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about.I’m just glad that there are more people that think like me, than the cynical way you see the country.
“Liberals got women the right to vote”
The federal woman suffrage amendment was introduced and passed in Congress in 1878. I believe Rutherford B. Hayes (R) was President.
“Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote.”
The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits each government in the United States from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen’s “race, color, or previous condition of servitude” . It was ratified on February 3, 1870. I believe Lincoln (R) was President.
“Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act”
Really Cheri! Might want to review your history. Democrats put forth the staunchest opposition to these two acts. Republicans overwhelmingly supported them.
“They opposed them on every one of those things, every one”
Regardless of what you have been told Cheri, repeating a lie often enough does not make it true.
“Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty.”
And threatens to impoverish future generations.
And so forth………..
Keep wearing your badge. I wish you every success.
Corporations are people, you know! (yes, that was snark) We, the people…not in the mindset of that person. Ugly outlook on life and humanity. Condescending, too.
A real belief in ‘We, the people,” I see. Why not just take it to the logical conclusion and auction off elective positions, all of them, to the highest bidder? That would set us apart as an advanced country in this world.
Interesting little graphic you may find helpful to burst your bubble. It’s enlightening. Try it! http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/06/interactive-chart-super-pac-election-money. This blows that little lie out of the water.
No. Money is NOT speech. Money is money and speech is speech. If money were speech, then millions upon millions of Americans would never have a voice…and thanks to the despicable and wrong ruling on the SC for Citizen’s United…this is what has happened. It is literally stealing away the voices of ordinary people. NOT OK.
Your pretzel logic regarding buying votes, is wrong. It’s not that we should be able to raise as much as possible…it should be that there is a specific amount that candidates can spend on an election. The money and donors need to be transparent and the ads they release need to be held accountable.Right now, corporations and big business are trying to buy this election…to further their greed and lust for money and power.
As far as the liberal issue is concerned…you are off the deep end. Tyranny? Seriously? You must have us confused with the other guys that want to have complete control over my choices and my body. Have complete control over who votes and who doesn’t. Have complete control over who pays their fair share of taxes and who doesn’t need to. Over what religion is the only acceptable one. Over peace or war for profit. Over sane regulations or no regulations. Over wage fairness or wage inequality. I could go on and on…but I will venture to say, that for all these reasons, so eloquently spoken by Mr. O’Donnell, is the reason why you take issue with the liberal cause.
“What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican Party? I’ll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.
What did Conservatives do?
They opposed them on every one of those things, every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,” as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor.”
I’m with him.
So many questions Cheri, so let me endeavor to address a few of them.
“Thata mean old “liberal agenda” talking point again…what exactly does that mean to you?”
Perhaps I mislabeled it the liberal agenda. A more accurate moniker would be the statist agenda, which is characterized by the belief that the state reigns supreme and that it is the individual’s imperfection and personal pursuits that impede the achievement of a utopian state. In short, modern Liberalism promotes soft tyranny, which becomes increasingly more oppressive, leading toward hard tyranny.
“Do you agree that money is speech?”
Yes. Your money, my money, Koch money, Soros money, union money, PAC money, etc., that is spent promoting a political view is speech covered under the first amendment.
“Do you believe that money should buy votes?”
No. Which is why you, I, or anyone else should be able to raise and/or spend as much money as we would desire to expose attempts by others to “buy votes”.
“Same old whining about “union money and Soros money”. They can’t begin to even come close to the Koch money and the RW PAC money. Not by a long shot. If you pay attention, you know that already.”
Anyone paying attention knows that the unions spend more the either the Kochs or Soros and it is debatable as to who spends more between the Kochs and Soros. The answer depends on what is included in the tallies such as donations to non-profits or donations made by Soros’ son that work for his hedge fund.
You were being condescending and you know it. Yes. Ginny Thomas is a flaming nutbag, as is her flaming nutbag, useless husband. A seatwarmer on the Supreme Ct….and one that should have recused himself more times than I care to think about. Why yes…SCOTUS DID define money as speech, which is utter and absolute BULLSHIT! Same old whining about “union money and Soros money”. They can’t begin to even come close to the Koch money and the RW PAC money. Not by a long shot. If you pay attention, you know that already.
You still didn’t answer my question, though. I want to know what YOU think. Do you agree that money is speech? Do you think that multinational corporations should have an active voice in our electoral process? Do you believe that money should buy votes? Do you think that the more money you have the more influence your money can buy? Do you think that’s in the Constitution? Do you think the Founding Fathers thought that corporations and PACS should be able to buy our democracy? I could go on, but I think you catch my drift. Well? I don’t want to hear talking points.I want to hear YOUR opinion.
“Condescending, nutbag”…… you mind defining those terms for me Cheri?
What I think. I think the SCOTUS defined money as speech, such as union money or Soros money supporting candidates or issues. Are you saying that they should be silenced?
Your point is what exactly? Don’t be condescending. I know what they did, and it was the worst decision ever. I want to know WTF they were smoking when they did that…but they aren’t immune from corporate sway, are they. Just ask Thomas and his nutbag wife, Ginny.
Answer the questions. I didn’t ask for a link to scotusblog.I want to know what YOU have to say, and what YOU think. Chinese influence good for you?

Look what a good little sheeple you are! Thata mean old “liberal agenda” talking point again…what exactly does that mean to you? Mr. Constitution clutching friend of Jesse…So. I guess that you think it’s perfectly fine for multinational corporations to be able to donate unlimited funds to buy our democracy? Saudi Arabia? Korea? Anywhere, actually. Where in that pocket Constitution does it say that’s ok? Where does it say that the ones with all the money get more say than another individual? Please, enlighten us.
I am certainly glad CD8 didn’t elect him to congress! He will be able to inflict much more damage to the liberal agenda with Citizens United than he ever would have in congress!
They kinda deserve each other. But America sure doesn’t deserve either of them.
