From MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell blog:
Arizona Republican Senator John McCain, who admitted in his memoir to attempting suicide while held captive as a P.O.W. in Vietnam for 5 1/2 years, is responsible for blocking funding for a suicide prevention program aimed at military reserve troops returning home from combat.
Lawrence O'Donnell interviewed New Jersey Democratic Representative Rush Holt about his conversation with McCain, who allegedly said to him "maybe you need this in New Jersey, but we don't need this in Arizona." McCain's office is telling a different story. You'll hear both sides and why Holt believes this new program is crucial. Military suicides are a growing crisis for the Defense Department, something addressed in findings this past August.
