John McCain scapegoats ‘illegal aliens’ for everything

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

McCain button Grampy McCrankypants and his sock puppet side-kick Jon Kyl held a press conference on Saturday regarding the wildfires in Arizona.

Did Grampy McCrankypants offer his help in securing federal emergency management assistance? Additional fire-fighting air tankers? National Guard troops to fight the fires?

Did he offer to pick up a shovel and join the fire line? Or a bucket brigade?

Did he offer his condolences to the families who have lost their homes and belongings? Or offer his praise to the many people on the fire lines fighting these Arizona wildfires?

The answer to all of the above questions is "No."

Grampy McCrankypants seized the occasion to engage in rank opportunism to politicize Arizona's wildfires by scapegoating "illegal immigrants" for the wildfires. John McCain's Racist Statements on Wildfires: After Pearce, Recall McCain – Phoenix New Times:

"There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by people who have crossed our border illegally. They have set fires because they want to signal others. They have set fires to keep warm. And they have set fires in order to divert law enforcement agents and agencies from them. So the answer to that part of the problem is get a secure border."

He offered zero proof of his outrageous assertion. ABC is reporting that federal firefighting officials are saying there is "no evidence" to back up McCain's phony claim.

The Arizona Republic adds that when Grampy McCrankypants was asked which fires were started by immigrants, he did not provide any specific examples. His sock puppet side-kick, however, chimed in to cover his ass: Sen. Jon Kyl said "Horseshoe was one," referring to a May 2010 blaze near Portal (not this year's Horseshoe Two Fire). Sen. John McCain ties fires to illegal border crossings:

The senators' remarks came a day after Gov. Jan Brewer said that the causes and sources of two southern Arizona fires have not been determined and that an investigation is under way.

* * *

Authorities are blaming the Wallow Fire in northern Arizona on an abandoned campfire and questioned two "persons of interest," but the people's identities were not released and no arrests were made. The U.S. Forest Service said an investigation is ongoing.

McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan responded in a series of e-mails late Sunday that the senator was referring to the Horseshoe fire based on information he received from a Forest Service Official [or was it Jon Kyl whispering the answer in his ear?]

She later said that was incorrect and was seeking clarification from another member of the senator's staff. "But I know for sure Sen. McCain wasn't saying the Wallow Fire was caused by illegal immigrants."

No duh, Brooke. Grampy McCrankypants said the border – look at a map.

This feeble old man doesn't know what he is saying. He is like a man with tourette's syndrome who randomly and uncontrollably blurts out "it's illegal aliens!" to everything:

My newspaper is not in the driveway – "it's illegal aliens!"

My coffee is cold – "it's illegal aliens!"

My corn flakes are soggy – "it's illegal aliens!"

It's too hot outside – "it's illegal aliens!"

I pooted myself – "it's illegal aliens!"

Is there anything that John McCain and the nativist anti-immigrant haters in Arizona will not blame on "illegal aliens," real or imagined?

Just retire and go. You are an embarrassment to this state.

  1. Really? The only issue here is “who set the fires?” It is still under investigation and no specific cause has been determined, and no arrests have been made.

John McCain accused “illegal immigrants” without any evidence or factual determination. And that is “not being very intellectually honest.”

  2. Regardless of ones politics surrounding this debate it is not being “anti-immigrant.” It is being “anti-illegal immigration.”

Using the term “anti-immigrant” is not being very intellectually honest when it comes to this debate about illegal immigration…

  3. Seriously, contact his office on this one. Even a Freshman high school debate student wouldn’t be allowed to get away with this kind of jingoistic unsupported stuff. And even if it is true, how does this help? The fire didn’t check anyone’s voter registration card or ethnicity as it roared through this last week. We missed being burned out by 2 miles, and it took the gov 6 days to get down there for her flyover and photo op. Gifford’s people were down there by Day 3. Maybe McCain or Kyl’s office could do the same.
