Juan Ciscomani is doing NOTHING to carry through his promises (and that of the MAGAGOP) to actually have a vote on MAGA’s Big Ugly Budget ACA Subsidy cuts that prompted the longest government shutdown in American history this fall.
The deal that ended the impasse was that Speaker Mike ‘Tiny’ Johnson promised to hold a vote on those subsidies this December, which he has failed to carry through as yet, instead today having his hand forced by a Democratic discharge petition which 4 GOP Members crossed the aisle to join (no, Ciscomani is NOT one of them…). We’ll see if that works or if Johnson finds a way to violate his promise, yet again.
This inaction and avoidance by ‘Tiny’ Johnson, and obsfucation, dodging and weaving by Arizona’s CiscoMAGA has prompted the DCCC to take the fight directly into CiscoMAGA’s CD6 today.
We’ll see how CiscoMAGA actually votes on the ACA subsidies to his constituents, which may also be difference between folding or staying open for the rural hospitals in his district. My guess – based on his MAGAness – is he will either try to dodge or obsfucate any vote, or simply vote with his tiny, tiny, MAGA heart and end ACA subsidies for many vulnerable Whovians in his district.
For months, Ciscomani has made empty promises about his support for the Affordable Care Act tax credits:
- Unlike other vulnerable Republicans, Ciscomani has refused to sign onto any proposals that would force the House to vote on extending the credits.
- Ciscomani voted to let the credits expire in the first place.
- Ciscomani declined to “use his own vote as a bargaining chip” during the government shutdown to pressure GOP House leadership to extend the credits.
Polling consistently shows Americans want the tax credits extended and that Republicans will be blamed if they expire. Without them, Arizonans in Ciscomani’s district could pay thousands of dollars more each month for their health care. Nearly 14,000 of Ciscomani’s constituents are expected to lose their health care due to cost.

REMINDER: Despite admitting cuts to Medicaid would “jeopardize” and “threaten” Arizonans’ health care, Ciscomani cast a key vote for Trump’s Big, Ugly Law, which included the largest cut to Medicaid in American history to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires.
The Arizona Hospital and Health Care Association is warning that Ciscomani’s Medicaid cuts will lead to half of all Arizona hospitals operating in the red, forcing many to either eliminate services or shut their doors altogether. At least five Arizona hospitals are at immediate risk of closing.
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Juan Ciscomani is going full ‘grinch’ with cruel cuts to health care and his refusal to deliver lower costs for hardworking Arizonans. The Republican health care crisis will be the defining issue in AZ-06 ahead of the 2026 midterms, and the DCCC will hold Ciscomani accountable for helping create it.”Source: DCCC Press Release December 17, 2025
UPDATE:
Democratic Members of the Arizona Congressional Delegation released this statement today:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, after four House Republicans joined all House Democrats in forcing a vote on a clean, three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits, Arizona Representatives Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07), Greg Stanton (AZ-04), and Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) released the following statement:
“Extending these tax credits is the only realistic way to lower premiums and protect health coverage for working families. Four Republicans chose people over politics and joined Democrats in demanding a vote. Unfortunately that did not include any of our Republican colleagues from Arizona, including Congressman Juan Ciscomani who has said, “doing nothing is not an option.”
Once again, the Republican majority had a chance to protect health care for more than 400,000 Arizonans, and chose not to act. We urge Speaker Johnson to bring this bill to the floor before the tax credits expire at the end of the year, and we hope our Arizona colleagues across the aisle will join us in supporting it.”
Press release of Rep. Adelita Grijalva, Dec 17.
Apparently, “doing nothing” is not just an option for Rep. CiscoMAGA, but his default mode! CD6 deserves better! We can have a fighter like Adelita in CD6, too!

Here in the district this DCCC action has resulted in the deployment of a mobile billboard circulating in Tucson (pictured in the featured image). It’s downtown as a type, but be on the lookout around Tucson and let me know if you see it in the comments. Please email any images taken of or with it (selfies preferred!) at MBryan AT gmail DOT com to post here!!
Don’t vote for the CiscoMAGA grinch next year. Vote for candidates who actually support continued and improved affordable health care!
Here’s a few to start off!
