Judy Stahl would like to become the next House Member from the area that is currently known as Arizona Congressional District Four.
The seat is currently occupied by election denier, conspiracy theorist advocate, and probable accessory to the January 6, 2021, Trumpist Domestic Terrorist attack on the Nation’s Capitol, Paul Gosar.
A 30-year resident of the Prescott area, Ms. Stahl sought office to the Arizona State Legislature in 2020.
Stahl is a successful massage therapist, educator, community activist, and Past National President of the American Massage Therapy Association. She was appointed by Governor Napolitano and served as the Chairperson of the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy that she helped create. She pledges, should she win in 2022, to represent the people in her Congressional District with integrity, strength, and determination.
She wants to leave the community in better shape after representing their interests in Congress.
Ms. Stahl graciously took the time to respond to questions about her candidacy for the House of Representatives.
The questions and her responses are below.
1) Please tell the readers two reasons you would like to become the next House Representative from Arizona House Congressional District Four.
- “I believe I am the best person to be the next Representative. I’ve lived here for 30 years, raised my children here, been involved here. I think I will be a strong leader here and be an advocate for strong schools and health care.”
- “The current representative (Mr. Gosar) has really failed us here. He has denied the seriousness of the pandemic and has enabled the insurrectionists. He is not getting the job done and he is not engaged in the truth. I will make myself available to all and speak the truth.”
2)Please tell the readers what two qualifications you have to serve in the House of Representatives.
- “I am a concerned citizen, smart person, team player, problem-solver, and a good leader with a passion to represent the people in my district with integrity, passion, and determination.”
- “I am a business owner.”
- “I am an experienced advocate working to secure good legislation.”
- “I was a political appointee at the Arizona Board of Massage Therapy.”
3) In your opinion, what are the three most important issues facing Arizonans and the American People? Please explain.
- “Water Issues in relation to growth and development and who is going to be empowered to make those decisions. Is it just going to be policy based on political expediency or will experts and scientific research be involved in the policy planning and execution? I am concerned about the long-term outlook of water supply in the state.”
- “Economic Recovery and we need to have access to support for small business to overcome the pandemic and move into the 21st Century. We need universal broadband, telemedicine, tele-education, affordable housing, and fair equitable opportunities for individuals.”
- “The large population of veterans and retirees in the area and the need to make sure they have the needed resources for housing, health care, mental health care, and job opportunities.”
4) Please explain your views on border security and immigration reform.
- “I support a path to citizenship for DACA citizenships.”
- “I also support President Biden’s efforts to focus national security threats on real threats and not regular people.”
- “We need to protect the natural environment at the border.”
- “We look at the ways the United States and Mexico work together on issues like border security and trade.”
- “We need to observe the asylum laws on the books and get the structures back in place that was decimated by the previous administration. We need to treat everyone with dignity and respect.”
- “Protect our border. I do not know anyone who is for open borders. We should have the resources available so the people coming here for asylum for humanitarian reasons can be processed. If they need to go back, they need to go back. We need ports of entry where legal crossing is accessible. We can use twenty-first-century methods to protect our border like cameras and drones.”
5) Please explain your views on funding the police and law enforcement reform.
- “I want to make sure our law enforcement is funded appropriately.”
- “I want to make sure that we the people have transparency on how those funds are spent and accountability. The police in Prescott has done a good job overall.”
- “I want appropriate oversight to make sure we are hiring people who are mature, compassionate, well-reasoned and hold the American values I hold dear.”
- “We need to make sure law enforcement receives appropriate training and vetting. We need to make sure law enforcement officers have the temperament, ethics, and perspective to do the job and protect and serve the community.”
6) Is there anything not covered in the first five questions that you would like the readers to know? Please explain.
“I am determined to ensure my voice and values are promoted to the whole district. I want everyone to know me so they can feel confident that I am the caring and competent alternative to the current incumbent. I feel an obligation to those who come after me like my children and others. I want to leave the world a better place. I have that vision and the ability to connect with other people. I am not afraid to speak up. I am committed to getting out and meeting people in the district and hearing what they have to say. I want to speak to people who want to hear from me, too.”
“I am now a seasoned candidate who had an excellent showing in my last race. I look forward to representing the fourth district with integrity, transparency, and a positive vision of the future that we are creating on this campaign right now.”
“I am the current Chair of the Democratic Women of the Prescott Area.”
